3D Medical Animation Studio, Ghost Productions, “Inspires Hope” for the Future of Cardiovascular Medicine

Watch on Youtube

CLIENT: Dassault Systems / Simulia

In the business of 3D medical animation, we can always count on the engineering geniuses at Dassault Systems to not only amaze us with new technologies that ride the very cusp of possible and science fiction, but also to challenge us to find ways to explain and market these technologies. Their software products are nothing short of revolutionary. SolidWorks, just one of their many titles, completely revolutionized computer aided design and manufacturing so much so that 90% of our medical device clients now provide us CAD models from SolidWorks. As little as a few years ago, the vast majority used ProE.  Simulia, their division dedicated to the developing new standards in finite element analysis and frighteningly accurate simulations for engineering, brought in a new challenge for us with this particular project.

3D Tech: Everything You Need to Know About the 3rd Dimension

3D Stereoscopic Technology

Stereoscopic_Animation

3D projection has advanced well beyond the red-blue glasses of yesteryear. For an example of how this technology can enhance medical animation, click on the image to view our award-winning video HEAL in stereoscopic 3D.

They’ve been around for decades: 3D movies that have been giving audiences nominal  “fly off the screen” thrills via the iconic 3D glasses with the cardboard red and cyan lenses that trick the eyes into perceiving depth where none exists. Throughout the ages, Ghost Productions has had an interesting experience with various 3D technologies that range from static holographic printing to glasses-free auto-stereoscopic projectors. Only recently has the display technology advanced to the point where we’ve felt good enough about the quality of the output that we began offering this as a standard service to our clients.

Hair Today, Gone to Lunch

Written by:  Matthew Perrin

As previously noted, we at Ghost Productions command certain secrets of immortality.  One of the many benefits of those secrets is the ability to grow “long in the tooth” while still retaining a full and functional set of them.  And what better way to celebrate our ever-lengthening lives than by shortening our workday and sharpening our ivories for an occasional birthday banquet?  Experience yields us no better alternative.  So we’ve stopped seeking alternatives—replacing freedom of festivity with freedom of feast!  Gho Pro animator Jas Bajric was our most recent feast master.  This Yugoslavia-born Canadian-turned-Minnesotan vis-wiz commonly prefers: his playlists filled with European trance, his garage housing a Dodge Viper, and his plate filled with grilled meat.  Not surprisingly, he chose to stage his lunchtime birthday break at the Minnesota-based BBQ house Famous Dave’s.

Come one, come all.  For those readers just joining us, welcome!  We begin this post by returning to our previous week’s discussion of the technical travails involved in our recent SNaP character project.  But before we do so, let’s give that video another view…

Oh SNaP! A Video – Part I

Written by:  Matthew Perrin
Resident Ghost Writer

In the midst of our May merry-making, it occurred to us at ghOst that our blog has thus far only showcased our fantastic staff. Now admittedly, we could discuss their superpowers for years to come (and fear not, we shall), but we should also take some time to describe what those superpowers can create. ghOst Productions doesn’t just boast some of the coolest people on this planet, we also like to think that we make some of the coolest medical animations on Earth. But we want you to judge. So at least once a month, our blog will showcase one of our exciting projects. And what better way to balance ghOst’s projects with ghOst’s personalities than through discussions with the persons involved in various projects?
