Charitable Fund Razing

It was more than the unseasonably warm weather that prompted many male Ghosts to arrive bald-faced at our studio this week.  The month of “Movember” is here.  Never heard of it?  Nor had I until a few days ago.  So here’s a bit of background info.  Movember is an international month-long fund-raising event that has blossomed since the 2004 establishment of the Movember Foundation in Australia.  Created by a small group of friends, the non-profit Foundation was formed to spread the visible appeal of the mustache while raising awareness and funding for the prevention and treatment of hidden illnesses like depression and prostate cancer.  Last year, the organization raised over $126 million for such causes.

When fellow Ghost Jas Bajric brought the Movember movement to our attention, the novelty and charity of the event charmed many of us into participating.  The majority of the money raised by the U.S. branch of the Movember Foundation ($15 million in 2011) is allocated to prostate and testicular cancer prevention programs.  In addition to any money that team “ghOstache” raises for such initiatives, CEO Stephan Kuslich has declared that Ghost Productions will donate $50 to Zero — The Project to End Prostate Cancer for each participating team member and each female Ghost demonstrating solidarity for the cause by photo-posing with a fake stache.  You can donate to the efforts of our team on our Movember fundraising page.  Pics of our month-end progress will appear both here and there.  And in case you were wondering, I am also participating.  Prepare to be awed.
